Tooth Extractions in Tuggerah
At Bluewater Dental, our goal is to help you keep all your natural teeth for a lifetime. But sometimes, the healthiest approach is to remove a tooth—when it can’t be saved, or when it threatens adjacent teeth.
Having a tooth removed is a scary thought for most people, fueled by images in TV and movies. However, modern-day extractions are not the painful ordeal they once were.
What to Expect
Whether you come in with pain, or we discover a problem during a check-up, we’ll do a thorough examination, including X-rays, to determine the cause of the situation. Once we diagnose that an extraction is needed, we’ll explain why, as well as other options, if there are any.
For complicated extractions, we will refer you to a specialist. For straightforward situations, we can perform the procedure in our clinic. We will explain the process, any risks and costs involved and obtain your consent before proceeding. We’ll take the time to answer all your questions.
NEW PATIENTS
After Care
We place a Gelatamp sponge in the wound to stop the bleeding and form a clot, and we’ll have you bite down on gauze. We’ll send you home with extra gauze, written post-op instructions, and information on who to call if you have any problems.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
To diagnose whether a wisdom tooth needs to come out, we’ll refer you for an OPG X-ray (there is an imaging centre downstairs from our practice). This type of X-ray will let us know how close the tooth is to the sinus and any nerves. Oftentimes, we will refer to a specialist for wisdom tooth extractions, because they tend to be quite complex.
