What to Expect

Before we proceed with whitening, we’ll do a thorough examination and cleaning. It’s important to fill any cavities and remove tartar before using the brightening gel—the products can cause extreme sensitivity if you have a cavity, and they don’t penetrate through tartar. It’s also important to note that whiteners don’t work on veneers or crowns, so the process will probably make these teeth stand out from the ones that do lighten.

The best time to whiten is about two or three weeks after your cleaning. We’ll scan your teeth to make impressions that are used to create your custom bleaching trays, and we’ll send you home with your trays and the professional-grade bleach.

How It Works

At-home teeth whitening is convenient, because you can wear the whitening trays when relaxing and watching TV. All you have to do is put the gel in the trays, and then place the trays over your teeth.

You can wear them for 15 minutes twice a day or for 30-60 minutes once a day. It will take a few days to achieve the desired brightness.

Are There Side Effects?

The most common side effect is tooth sensitivity. However, this is generally temporary and subsides once you stop using the bleach. Some people experience mild gum irritation, which is also temporary.
